The Merlot-heavy 2021 Le Marquis de Calon Ségur is solid, with a pure, seamless, medium-bodied style as well as pretty red fruits, notes of flowers and sappy herbs, a touch of minerality on the palate, fine tannins, and a great finish. Made with lots of Merlot (58%) and the young vines of Cabernet Sauvignon (42%), this is an immediately appealing wine with aromas of raspberry and wild strawberry coulis, roses and cherries. Tender and lively on the palate with a minty freshness and good balance, it is clear that the Merlots take the lead here with generous roundness and a soft, lush finish.
