Château Verdignan is located in Saint-Seurin-de-Cadourne, next to Saint-Estèphe in the northern Médoc. The estate covers 60 hectares, including 40 hectares of gravel and clay soils around the château. Moreover, its position close to the Gironde Estuary provides an ideal climate for slow and even ripening.
The Miailhe family runs the property, with Eric Miailhe responsible for production and sales. The estate focuses on making classic Haut-Médoc wines that develop beautifully with age. In addition, Château Verdignan holds HVE Level 3 environmental certification.
Château Verdignan 2022 – Classic Haut-Médoc
The Château Verdignan 2022 is a classic Left Bank Bordeaux from the Haut-Médoc appellation. Cabernet Sauvignon leads the 2022 blend, bringing structure and freshness. Meanwhile, Merlot adds ripe fruit and softness, while Cabernet Franc gives an extra aromatic lift.
The estate selects only part of the fruit grown on its gravel soils for the Grand Vin. Furthermore, consultant oenologist Eric Boissenot helps select the final blend after fermentation.
Grape Varieties
- 60% Cabernet Sauvignon
- 35% Merlot
- 5% Cabernet Franc
Maturation
Château Verdignan follows traditional Bordeaux winemaking methods. First, the team ferments the grapes in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks. The wine also completes malolactic fermentation before the final selection and blending.
Next, Château Verdignan matures its Grand Vin for 12 months in French oak barrels. The estate renews around 25% of its barrels with new French oak each year. As a result, the oak adds structure and depth while allowing the fruit to remain at the centre of the wine.

Style and Character
The Château Verdignan 2022 combines the ripe character of the vintage with the classic structure of Haut-Médoc. Moreover, Cabernet Sauvignon gives the wine backbone, while Merlot brings a softer and more generous fruit profile.
In addition, French oak ageing adds depth without hiding the fruit. As a result, the wine feels rich and structured while retaining freshness and balance.
Overall, Château Verdignan 2022 is a classic Médoc for Bordeaux lovers. Guide Hachette recommends drinking it from 2026 to 2032, although well-stored bottles may develop beyond that window.
