WINERY Callia
VARIETY Malbec
VINTAGE2021
VINEYARD NOTES
Vineyards are located at the Tulum Valley at an average altitude of 650 m. a. s. l.
They are produced in alluvial, loamy-sandy to clay-loam soils, well suited to vines
of high enological quality.
The weather is desert-like with an adequate daily temperature range. The sanitary
condition of grapes is good due to the number of sunny days (over 300 days per
year), low rainfalls (around 90 mm/year), low relative humidity, and the Zonda, a
warm and dry wind typical of the area. Meltwater from the Andes Mountain range is
used for irrigation.
The water is stored in a dam, and it is distributed by means of irrigation channels to
the vineyards for surface irrigation or, as in the case of Callia, for drip irrigation.
Vineyards are trained on high trellises for mechanical harvesting, or in arbors with
manual harvesting, an adequate system for the climate in San Juan.
