Terroir Nuits-Saint-Georges is an iconic appellation in Burgundy. Its wines were even prescribed for Louis XIV in 1693 as a remedy for his ailments. The three plots for our cuvée are located at the foot of the slope, both north and south of the village, where the limestone soil is mixed with clay and marl. The typicity of the soil lends both finesse and minerality to the blend as well as power and richness. The vines’ southeastern exposure is ideal for optimal ripening of the grapes.
Vinification and ageing The grapes are handpicked and carefully sorted so as to retain only the best grapes. After the grapes are destemmed, they are transferred to tanks where fermentation begins naturally under the influence of indigenous yeasts. The cuvée is barrel-aged for between 15 and 18 months (30% new oak).
Tasting notes The colour is of medium intensity. The nose is open and boasts aromas of liquorice that are typical for Nuits-Saint-Georges. Fruity notes on the palate (fruit coulis, cherrystone) with perfect maturity underscored by a touch of acidity and tannins that are typical of Nuits-Saint-Georges. The finish is almost saline, stony.
