Château Les Carmes Haut-Brion, a small property spanning 7.6 hectares, has become one of Bordeaux`s hottest names, boasting a stylish new winery designed by Philippe Starck. Winemaker Guillaume Pouthier, previously associated with Chapoutier in the Rhône, brings his expertise, often utilizing up to half whole bunch fermentation.
The 2021 vintage is a blend composed of 40% Cabernet Franc, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 25% Merlot, aged in 70% new barriques, 20% new 18-hl foudres, and 10% amphoras. This wine stands out with its remarkable tannin texture, seamlessly melding with the wine to impart softness and finesse. Medium-bodied, it showcases a solid fruit core, with captivating, focused notes of cassis, blackberry, and crushed stones.
