From butcher to winemaker: The fall in meat prices prompted Johann Schwarz to switch to viticulture. With the support of good winemaker friends, he rebuilt his business from 1999. Today, he is one of the top winemakers in Austria.

The Weingut Schwarz Butcher Cuvée Rot is a blend of Zweigelt (60%), Blaufränkisch (20%), Merlot (20%) coming from the Austrian Burgenland. The grapes have matured for 12 months in used barrique. In the glass, the Butcher Cuvée Rot has a dark ruby red color with purple/violet shades. In the nose red and dark fruit such as red berries and blackberries but also a bit of nuts, herbs, orange peel and spices. Delicious drinkable with a rich and ripe tannin with some vanilla in the aftertaste.
