Silk & Spice is a tribute to the spirit of adventure shown by the Portuguese navigators who explored the globe in the 15th century and discovered the commercial silk and spice routes. Silk Route celebrates its namesake and is a smooth, ruby-colored red wine with aromas of red fruit, white chocolate and vanilla. Thanks to the art of blending wines, the native grape varieties and Portugal’s unique terroir, this wine has a finish that is both silky and smooth.
VARIETIES: 50% Alicante Bouschet, 30% Shiraz, 20% Touriga Nacional
A ruby color, this wine has an intense aroma of red fruit alongside hints of black pepper, white chocolate and vanilla. It is extremely well-balanced, harmonious and smooth, and perfect for everyday consumption.
Winter was warmer and dryer than usual, while spring was wet and hot – flowering occurring at the end of May. In summer, temperatures were above average and there was little rainfall. The harvest started in early September.
After destemming and soft-crushing, the grapes were transferred to stainless steel tanks where fermentation took place. During fermentation, the wine underwent gentle maceration at controlled temperatures (22-24ºC) in order to preserve the fruit and the natural freshness of the grapes used in its production.
Store in a cool and dry place away from light.
Serve at between 16-18ºC in medium-sized or large wine glasses.
